Slenda Da Dancing Dj (real name Sithabile Zungu) is an Afrotainment dancer who got her big break in 2017 when TipCee gave her the chance to be her dancer.
Weeks later she was noticed by DJ Tira while perfoming at Max’s Lifesttle where he immediately knew she had something special and asked her to join the Afrotainment team.
The following years saw Slenda becoming a dominant force in the dancing industry. As the Gqom genre was at its peak, Slenda was also at her highest.
She has been in multiple music videos and a number of stages in and outside South Africa.
Internet Famous had the chance to speak with the talented dancer about her start and why she transitioned to DJing.
She told Internet Famous: “I have always been inspired by DJ Zinhle every time we passed paths at the events but I never got the chance to learn DJing.”
The beginning of lockdown last year helped Slenda to start learning and practising the skill of DJing because of the lack of gigs. She quickly mastered and gained confidence in DJing within a year.
While posting her mixes online during lockdown she was noticed by the producers of Ukhozi FM who then asked her for a mix.
After Ukhozi played her mix she got the opportunity to be a resident DJ for them for the entire month where she continued to hone her skill.
But that was not enough for her, which is what eventually led her to release her single ‘Landela’ with Q Twins and Andiswa Live.
The song made it to the top 10 radio charts in the country within a month but she felt like she did a disservice to her co-audience of gqom fans.
Which is why she has promised gqom songs in her upcoming EP set to release 29th of October.
She did not give us a name yet but the EP has features of fellow Afrotainment signee Beast.
